Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Foundation
Dr Joseph J CollinsChairman, ALCCRF
Fellow Lions,
At the 57th national conference in Melbourne in May 2009 the Multiple District Convention approved a motion to establish a category A Project to be known as Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation (ALCCRF).
Barry Palmer has recently written to you asking for support for ALCCRF's Around Australia Ride Appeal. 100% of the money raised from that appeal will go direct to childhood cancer research to support our vision of 100% survival for kids with cancer.
Why do we need your help now? ALCCRF was established with a donation of $500 from Multiple District 201N5. One or two other clubs have kindly donated some funds to help set up the foundation's operations. We are very grateful for that help. However, we have very little money for activities such as printing information brochures, attending conventions to promote ALCCRF, phone conferences for our trustees meetings and other activities essential to getting ALCCRF started. We desperately need these funds to properly serve Lions Australia and more importantly the children with cancer that need our help.
How can you help? I am asking each District Governor to seek their District's approval to donate $250 to ALCCRF and encourage all the Clubs in their District to follow suit in any amount up to $250. The money will be used for the purposes of operating ALCCRF to achieve its vision, mission and goals which are set out on a separate information pamphlet. We need your support, so if you can help please send your donation direct to:ALCCRF Getting Started Appeal, PO Box 97 Mortdale NSW 2223.
